Triumph GT6 Mk3, a car I always wanted, but never thought I'd ever have. They always seemed too expensive and my heart had gone out to a Mk3 Spitfire on two occasions... (see Spitfire links) Triumph GT6 Mk3 I'd toyed with the idea of putting a 2-litre engine into the Spitfire, but decided to keep it mostly original. It's a late model 1973 (I just miss out on the 'free' car tax... b*****!)
Triumph GT6 Mk3 (original photo) Just when I thought I'd never get one, it happened totally out of the blue. One late summer's Saturday in August  I spotted the car, for sale in Torquay in The Autotrader Online (pictured right). For some reason it had to be white. I'd previously thought about getting a Mk2, as they are so similar to my Mk3 Spitfire. Then I decided that the Mk3 GT6 looked better. I don't know why, I just do. I called my girlfriend Karen and asked if she fancied a quick trip to Devon. She did and when she saw the car, she loved him too.
At the time, we lived in Taunton, Somerset and so Torquay was about an hours' drive. A quick re-visit with my friend Chris (he was supposed to be 'objective' but he's a petrol-head and when he saw it, fell over himself for me to get it!) and we'd got a very good condition GT6 for a very reasonable price. Karen and I tried to think of a name, as we sat in the Marina Carpark at Torquay eating chips. 'Chippy' stuck. When I was finally able to examine him closely, I found a real gem. NO rust whatsoever and a car that had obviously been well looked-after by it's previous owner. KAF 108L joined the 'collection'. Triumph GT6 Mk3
We now live in the Cayman Islands and I had to keep the car somewhere (I'll never sell it), so at Christmas we drove up from Taunton to Hull, Yorks. We visited my folks and that's where he lives at the mo', in my dad's garage.

I made a couple of changes, to personalise it a little. Nothing out of place, just a set of minilites, black & silver number plates and as there was no air filter fitted, a pair of K&N's. When we get back, I'd like to modify it further, so would welcome any suggestions on tuning etc. I've even heard of a company that would Supercharge it.... now there's a thought...
